I was inspired by Angela Stokes' blogging about chia seeds (as well as lucuma powder! but it hasn't arrived in the mail yet) - I encouraged my local raw cafe to order some and they finally came in. I purchased two pounds.
I soaked nearly a cup, starting out with three times as much water. Had to transfer this to a larger bowl as it needed more! THey weren't lyin when they say it absorbs up to 10 times its weight in water : 0
So i have much more than I expected. I mixed about a cup's worth with chopped strawberries, bananas, and pears with mulberries and goji berries sprinkled in. i'm going to pour some sesame seed mylk onto it. aaack wish i had the presence of mind to bring along acamera fora picture! it's my lunch i'm going to eat in an hour or two. (still working on my green smoothie at the moment: strawberry, pear, lettuce, spirulina).
so this is day 10. i had a bit of cooked food once on the weekend: some chickpeas and two small rolls of bread. but it didn't throw me off thankfully. i expect i'll have a bit of cooked veggies once a week or so, when we're out somewhere and i'm not preapred and there's nothing else to be had (which is why i ate the chickpeas at decompression). but otherwise i really have no desire for it !!!
i'm getting a nice high at times during the day from all the good cleanf ood. i think i'm going to start blogging more about my daily eating.
we had an amazing dinner at the raw restaruant alive! in san francisco. exquisite and far better than anything i've had at cafe gratitude. also finally experienced raw vegan hemp soft serve ice cream from judahlicious at the free bluegrass festival.
decompression was raucous and fun. had a great weekend but spent money a bit too freely on haight street !

banana, cacao, vega superfood powder, mesquite (14 ounces)
strawberry, banana, butter lettuce, spirulina smoothie (22 ounces)
spinach, cauliflower, cabbage, yellow squash, avocado salad with acv/oliveoil/nama shoyu/garlic dressing
cacao, huckleberry, various other superfood concoction from green life
sesame seed mylk/strawberry/coconut smoothie
today's food log:
banana, cacao, vega powder, maca, mesquite, cinnamon smoothie (14 oz)
strawberry, nectarine, pear, lettuce greens and spirulina smoothie (22 oz)
chia seed concoction mentioned earlier
red leaf lettuce, cauliflower, cherry tomato, zuchinni, cabbage, olives, avocado with tahini miso ginger dressing
and somethin' else i haven't figured out yet for dinner tonight : )
